Allee of Dreams

Fenella Belle & Stacey Evans

Location: 756 Belmont Avenue

Description: Allee of Dreams invites the viewer to be transported from the neighborhood streetscape to a dreamy world of ethereal blue that is familiar, strange and ever changing. Strolling through a series of fabric panels suspended from trees one migrates from a surrounding of ordinary objects to one of natural wonder. Layers of imagery temporarily overlap, clarifying and dissolving as the lightweight silk subtly moves in response to the viewer’s passage. Allee of Dreams provides us with a fleeting respite from our daily routine and reminds us of our extraordinary capacity for wonder and delight.

Bios:

Fenella Belle received her MFA in fibers from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and currently teaches in the art department at PVCC. Both her personal artwork and her teaching embrace a mixed media approach to making art with an emphasis on play and discovery. Belle’s background includes teaching adults and children, museum education and exhibit design, fabric printing and installation art. She is particularly interested in making art accessible to everyone, regardless of age and education.

Stacey Evans grew up in Waynesboro, Virginia; a small town made diverse by its variety and combination of different landscapes – rural, urban, industrial and suburban – all within a 10 mile radius. As an artist, she has worked to translate her formative visual experiences and demonstrate the role landscapes play within culture. Her photographic career began in middle school as yearbook photographer. She went on to study photography at Virginia Commonwealth University and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in photography from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Currently, she works as an artist, educator and commercial photographer.
