Description: A series of works to be exhibited on the front yard of the historic Belmont Mansion including an archeological excavation, magic boxes, portals of mystery, a room of isolation and identity, a floating cloud, an insect of wonder, a raven being pulled under, poems of sense and non-sense, and more.
Yard Dreams UNearthED: Art/Archeology is a collective project led by William Bennet that will be performed from 1 – 4 PM, Saturday, September 10th (Rain Date: same times, Sunday, September 11th). This project will include the Tentacle, a bronze and concrete monument, which will be buried beneath a Mountain of Adobe Bricks each containing small artifacts. The project will be excavated during the Yard Dreams reception by Belmont neighborhood Elementary School students working with UVA Archeology students.
Poet and performance artist, Stephen Margulies, will be performing ART HAUNTS OUR WORLD! (subtitle: We Haunt Art! Houses Haunt Us! We Haunt Houses!) at 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 PM Saturday, September 10th (Rain Date: same times, Sunday, September 11th).

Bio: William Bennett is a Charlottesville sculptor whose works include large environmental stone carvings, laminated stone constructions, machine sculptures, performance based parade works, fire sculptures, and amulet-sized objects. Many of his sculptures are interactive and invite viewer participation. He has taught sculpture at UVA for 35 years. His work is represented by Les Yeux du Monde Gallery, Charlottesville, Virginia.
