The Earth, from a certain point of view

Chris Haske

Location: 751 Belmont Avenue

Description: This piece, made out of painter’s tape and chalk paint, is an anamorphic artwork. The shape of the Earth, as it spans across the house and lawn, resolves into view from one specific vantage point. From all other points of view the shape of the Earth is broken apart and distorted. This piece explores the ideas of fragility, the power of the natural world, human perception, and how human activity shapes the world. By superimposing the Earth and a house, the artwork also challenges us to think about the idea of “home” and how it relates to the Earth as a whole.
